My trip to Peru

While I go through my many, many photos from my Christmas trip to Peru (which may take a while, as I have a lot of uni work to do too!), here's one my sister posted on facebook (thanks Claire!).

Apparently I have a special grumpy face when I take photos. Has anyone else noticed this?

The trip itself was awesome - I met lots of my extended family as well as two alpacas, three fluffy llamas and a keen cockroach on New Year's Eve. My brother even ate half a guinea pig. There were mountains, lakes, deserts (and desserts!), rainbows and lots of very bumpy roads. I have returned the proud owner of two alpaca jumpers and some amazing alpaca socks (which I never want to take off, ever).

The Atacama Desert

A few days ago I went to my first ever desert - it was quite an experience! The buggy ride which skidded along the dunes at break-neck speed and which almost sent us upside down was only half of it.

So here are my photos of the Atacama Desert, taken near the oasis we stayed in called Huacachina, in Peru. Head over to my facebook page for a photo of my brother being silly in the dunes! :)

A study in mirrors

Two photographs of Jess from her wedding in Somerset last Saturday. The hotel, Maunsel House, where she got ready was full of eccentric and beautiful items, and I just had to make the most of this mirror!

On a side note, this post is being uploaded from Lima, Peru! I'm on Christmas holiday here - enjoying the hot weather as I go through these wedding photographs. It's pretty nice ;) I'll post a full feature sometime in the coming weeks.

Oxford by night

Sometimes - very rarely - the urge takes me to just take my camera and shoot something. As I was walking home a couple of days ago I was struck (once more) by how picturesque the streets I live on are. So I braved the cold, and here we are!

Don't you think the broad street one looks like it's taken on a film set?!

Corner of Broad Street, and New College seen from Holywell Street, Oxford.
